I am frequently asked how our curriculum differs from Ambleside.

The major differences between our schedules and AO are that ours integrate Bible readings with ancient history and US history is studied during the early years rather than British History. It is studied later in the fourth and fifth years. Also, in the fifth year, we spend an entire year studying other non-European cultures-Africa, Middle East, Australia, Antarctica, India, etc…using great literature (places AO doesn’t cover).  Our curriculum includes Ancient Egypt and other early civilizations in year six. Ambleside skips this era. We also changed many of the readings because they weren’t spread out evenly and easily for children, and moved books around to match a more appropriate grade level. Several books were replaced with more up to date choices.
